COURSE OBJECTIVE:

Provide the graduate with entry level skills needed to secure employment in the advanced manufacturing industry. Skills learned will include mechanics, electrical, fluid power, PLC's and preventive maintenance.

MECHANICS:

  1. Principles of Mechanical Systems and Components
  2. Linear and circular motion
  3. Lubrication of bearings, belts, gears, and couplers
  4. Vibration and alignment of systems

ELECTRICAL:

  1. Safty
  2. OHM's Law
  3. Trade Math
  4. Understanding electrical schematics
  5. Voltage 120, 240, 480
  6. Single and three phase power
  7. Series and parallel circuits
  8. Use of oscilloscope
  9. Testing and troubleshooting

FLUID POWER:

  1. Overview of design and maintenance of hydraulic systems
  2. Overview of pneumatic systems
  3. Reading of fluid power diagrams
  4. Pumps, compressors, valves, actuators
  5. Electrical control and troubleshooting

ELECTRONICS:

  1. Semiconductor devices and insulators
  2. Diodes thermistors, photocells, hall effect, transistors
  3. Relay logic and module wiring
  4. Troubleshooting including how to read ladder diagrams

PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS:

  1. Fundamentals of logic block
  2. Input and output of terminals
  3. PLC's and analog and digital signals
  4. Proper meter use and how to troubleshoot
  5. PLC meter scanning and how to test and troubleshoot sensors

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE:

  1. How to develop a preventive maintenance PM program
  2. Do's and don'ts
  3. OSHA 10 certification
