Module A: Introduction to the Healthcare Workplace

Objectives

This module of the Medical Assistant training program in NJ prepares the student for their role in the allied health setting. Students learn effective communication skills and understand their scope of practice. Students will be introduced to medical terminology, basic anatomy, physiology and how to take vital signs. It is intended for those students who are entering the healthcare field for the first time.

Module B: Phlebotomy and Hematology

Objectives

This module of the Medical Office Assistant program explains the importance of the phlebotomist within the healthcare team. The phlebotomist's primary responsibility is the collection of blood samples by venipuncture or micro-collection techniques. In addition, this course will focus on the proper techniques in blood collection, capillary collection, specimen labeling and transportation and isolation activities. The course is designed for students to achieve Phlebotomy Certification.

Objectives

This module of the Medical Office Assistant program prepares the student to perform 12 lead EKG. It teaches familiarity with terminology associated with arrhythmia and EKG artifacts. It also instructs students to become knowledgeable in the anatomy and physiology of the heart including its electrical condition.
